PERSONAL NOTE

I was born and raised in Vancouver BC. Since a young age I knew that music was my calling. It came naturally and flowed thru my veins. By the end of elementary school I was assembling my first band, instructing my friends what instrument they were gonna play etc. Once in high-school, music became something entirely different. A lifeline. A place I could go when my surroundings seemed so fucked I didn't know what to do, wanting only to dissappear off the face of the planet. Music was my escape. There was a period when I was 14 or so, when I don't remember putting down my guitar for more than 10 minutes to eat. If it were not for my music and connection to this cosmic energy, my life would be a very different story. I'm not sure I would still be here. When I write or play, it is unfiltered. It comes from my heart. I am a conduit, or a messenger, and that is my purpose here on earth.

PRESS RELEASE

Hallucinations, the new album from Vancouver born artist Steve Rio, is an expansive genre-bending work. The CD features straight-up indy-rock tracks, dark experimental tracks, roots, and electronic sounds. The self-produced record twists and turns through genres, guided by Rio’s personal lyrics and vocal approach. Hallucinations features guest appearances by Steve Dawson, on the rootsy love song, My House, Paula Toledo on the sublime finisher, Mercy, local electronic trio FNDMNTL on the giant electronic track, Alive, and a 12 piece string ensemble, on Victim Fantasies, to name a few. Hallucinations was released  December 15th.


Steve Rio bares his soul with the audience everytime he sets foot on stage. Whether it be armed only with an acoustic guitar & his vocal chords, backed by his band, or rocking with his punk/metal band, Odessa.

Steve Rio is a talented guitarist, vocalist, writer & producer based out of Vancouver BC Canada. He has been involved with music since the age of 12, playing in almost every type of project imagineable: Rock, Metal, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin, Folk, Dub, and R&B.
